PWX II power supply
The Black Cube phono preamplifier can now also be upgraded with the PWX II power supply, with which the Decade is otherwise equipped as standard. More authenticity in the bass, more effortless mids, more dynamics ... All the positive effects that improve the sound with a significantly oversized power supply unit actually inspire the playback quality of the Black Cube.
The 30VA toroidal transformer of the power supply, which is designed as an interference protection transformer with a grounded shield winding, is essential for the achieved sound quality. This turns the PWX II into a filter power supply for common-mode interference components on the mains voltage. In contrast to the PWX power supply, the power supply electrolytic capacitors and pulse capacitors of the PWX II are again of significantly improved quality. The ability to deliver electricity is higher. There are inductances in the power supply line for additional interference suppression.
The PWX II provides a low-noise, symmetrical power supply of +/- 15V for up to two Black Cube audio components.
The mains transformer is fused on the primary side. The power supply line is connected to the PWX II via an IEC socket.
The necessary connection from the PWX II to the audio part is realized by two professional Neutrik XLR connectors with gold-plated contacts. These sockets are soldered directly onto the circuit board and have proven themselves for years in professional studio technology with regard to sound quality and long-term stability.
The housing of the PWX II is made of aluminum and, like the Black Cube, is mechanically dampened in the lid
