Set-up set for vinyl starters

Is every beginning difficult? No not at all. With the Ortofon set-up set, vinyl beginners have everything they need to get the best out of their turntable quickly and easily.

Belong to the set

  • MM pickup highlight Ortofon 2M Blue
  • Bar tonearm scale
  • Adjustment overhang template

Ortofon 2M Blue

Thanks to its bare diamond, the Ortofon 2M Blue plays more dynamically and with greater detail than an Ortofon 2M Red. A bare diamond has less moving mass than a glued diamond. Due to the lower mass inertia, the scanning diamond can follow the groove modulation more easily.

Technical specifications

Pickup type: MM (moving magnet)

Output voltage: 5.5mV *

Amplifier connection: Phono MM

Channel deviation at 1 kHz: 1.5dB

Crosstalk attenuation at 1kHz: 25dB

Crosstalk attenuation at 15kHz: 15dB

Frequency range: 20-25,000Hz

Frequency response: 20-20,000Hz + 2 / -1dB

Scanning ability at 315Hz: 80µm **

Compliance: 20 µm / mN

recommended Tonearm type: light and medium weight

Scanning diamond: elliptical, naked

Rounding: r / R 8 / 18µm

Tracking force range: 16-20mN (1.6-2.0g)

recommended Tracking force: 18mN (1.8g)

Scanning angle: 20 degrees

DC resistance: 1.3kOhm

Inductance: 700mH

recommended Terminating resistor: 47kOhm

recommended Terminating capacity: 150-300pF

Housing material: Lexan DMX

Height (not PnP MkII): 18mm

Weight: 7.2g

Replacement needle insert: Stylus 2M Blue

* at 1000Hz, 5cm / sec. ** with recommended tracking force
Height = distance from the diamond tip to the cover plate

Bar tonearm scale

The tracking force is the downward pressure exerted on the record by the weight of the tonearm through the stylus. It is important to use the correct tracking force to maximize playback performance and reduce the risk of mistracking or excessive record wear.

Find out about the settings recommended by the manufacturer for the tracking force of your pickup pen. The measuring tool for the Ortofon tracking force is a small scale with a plastic spigot with which the tracking force can be measured precisely between 1.25 g and 4 g.

The Ortofon measuring device is easy to use:

1. Insert the stylus (needle) of the pickup very carefully into the grooved guide track at the desired marking for the tracking force.
2. Next, adjust the counterweight or tonearm pressure scales until the Ortofon pivot point scale is balanced. The scale on the dynamometer is marked in grams.

Adjustment / overhang template

An adjustment or overhang template is used to determine the correct distance from the tip of the needle to the pivot point of the tonearm.

The Ortofon tonearm scale measures the tracking force between 1.25g and 4g.

Technical specifications

  • Measuring range: 1.25 to 4g (12.5 to 40mN)
  • Length x width x height: 70 x 12 x 10mm
