Linn Sondek LP12 with Radikal and Ekos SE – Redefining the Analog Reference
For decades, the Sondek LP12 has been one of the defining names in the high-end analog sector.
With this radical upgrade, Linn relies on a sophisticatedly controlled DC motor. This motor impresses with higher torque, reduced interference fields, and exceptional smoothness. Embedded in damping Poron foam and mounted in an acetal cylinder, vibrations are effectively minimized.
Two control loops ensure a constant speed:
Back EMF control for direction of rotation and rapid start-up
Optical sensor for precise speed control with low-jitter reference clock
The result is excellent long-term stability and measurable peak values.
Sound with depth, structure and naturalness
The gain in calmness and control is evident from the very first bars. Subtle dynamics emerge more clearly, voices sound full-bodied, and instruments gain more substance. At the same time, the soundstage audibly opens up in width and depth.
Even complex arrangements are presented in a structured and comprehensible manner. Compared to reference models like the Brinkmann Oasis, the LP12 impresses with natural timbres and a particularly coherent midrange reproduction.
Proven design at the highest level
The milled Keel subchassis effectively decouples the tonearm and platter from the surface. A solid wood plinth, stainless steel top plate, and precision carousel bearing ensure stability and durability.
The Ekos SE tonearm complements the system with the highest manufacturing quality and precise tracking capability.
The Linn Klimax LP12 represents the most consistent development stage, featuring perfectly matched reference components and an optional Bedrok™ plinth upgrade for further optimized resonance control.
