T + AA 3000 HV

The T + AA 3000 HV is the ideal power output stage and addition to the T + AP 3000 HV preamplifier. It is designed as a stereo power amplifier, but can also be switched to mono operation and then has twice the current supply capability and thus also twice the Class A range. This bolide is not only incredibly powerful and efficient, but thanks to the HV technology also has outstanding sound properties that can hardly be surpassed even by much more expensive amplifiers. The division of a high-end system into separate preamplifiers and power amplifiers gives our developers the opportunity to implement the best possible circuit concepts and technologies regardless of space requirements and housing restrictions. This applies to both the electronic components and the mechanical housing construction, because the requirements for preamplifiers are fundamentally different than for power amplifiers if you want to achieve the best possible sound result. With the relatively small signals that are processed in preamplifiers, the avoidance of disturbances, stray signals and interference is crucial, whereas with the relatively large signals in output stages, the stability of the power supply, current delivery capability and load independence are much more important.

All T + A HV devices are based on the double mono principle, ie the engineers completely separate the left and right channels (also mechanically) and each use identical circuit boards so that both channels have exactly the same sound behavior.

The components used are carefully selected and strictly selected in order to ensure optimal properties for the respective application. This is where T + A's 30 years of experience in amplifier construction go into, which has shown how important the quality of audiophile components is for the sound result. T + A uses low-loss mica capacitors with silver electrodes, induction-free thick-film planar resistors, low-noise audio precision resistors, nickel-free gold-plated connection terminals made especially for T + A, etc. A large number of these components were developed for military use and accordingly meet high requirements in terms of quality and durability .

In addition to the circuit topology, the quality of an output stage is largely determined by the power supply. The power supply unit of the A 3000 HV is unrivaled; it can be described as 'rock hard' without exaggeration. The basis is a huge, extremely stable and powerful toroidal transformer (1000 watts) with a minimal stray field. It is also magnetically shielded all around and hermetically sealed. 12 large sized Siebelkos (a total of 120,000 µF / 100 V) with low inductance are connected in parallel and reduce the internal resistance and the inductivity of the sieving to one sixth compared to a standard power supply. This makes the power pack very fast and can provide huge amounts of electricity in a very short time without inertia, even with steep-edged pulses. For extreme demands there is even the option of further improving the quality of the voltage and power supply with the additional PS 3000 HV power pack.

The pictures on the left show the bottom and top of the T + AA 3000 HV. The entire power electronics with output stages and power supply are located in their own, shielded compartment on the underside of the device. The partition between the top and bottom is 10 mm thick and of course made of aluminum. Voltage amplification (upper section) and current amplification are therefore housed on separate boards in separate housing sections in order to prevent mutual interference. The effort involved goes even further, because there is a galvanic separation between the two. Thanks to this uncompromising concept, there is no feedback from the loudspeaker currents in the voltage amplifier stages and there is complete freedom from loudspeaker load effects. The voltage amplifier is an extremely linear and broadband cross-coupled cascode differential amplifier followed by a sound-defining single-ended Class A large-signal stage. The fully symmetrical current amplifier stage (output stage) is equipped with MOSFET drivers and the latest 'thermal tracking' bipolar output transistors, this combination provides a very harmonious, audiophile sound image with an enormous current delivery capacity. Temperature measuring diodes are integrated in the output transistors, which T + A uses to set absolutely constant, temperature-independent operating points of the power transistors and thus perfectly controls the distortion behavior in every load situation. T + A has succeeded in completely compensating for all signal currents through the completely symmetrical routing of all current conductors in output stages, loudspeaker lines and power supply unit. This means there are no magnetic stray fields and no electromagnetic feedback in the input stages.

The enormous power of the output stages requires particularly high-quality, stable speaker terminals. They are turned from full pure brass and completely rhodium-plated. Rhodium is the perfect contact material: conductive like silver, resistant like platinum, corrosion-resistant like gold (and as expensive as all three together).
