George Duke – The Best of the MPS Years
What, you don't know George Duke? Here's something to fill that educational gap: Duke began playing the piano at the age of seven, later studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of
Music and graduated with a Master's degree in composition. He played with Jean-Luc Ponty, Canonball Adderly and Frank Zappa, among others. THE BEST OF THE MPS YEARS is a fantastic cross-section of his recordings for the legendary label from the Black Forest. The album contains the essence of Duke's recordings between 1973 and 1976 - during this time, he released a total of six albums. We hear a young George Duke, audibly freshly inspired by Adderly and Zappa. A must for jazz fans.
