Building on a solid foundation of familiar AQ technologies, Garth and Bill focused specifically on solving one of the most difficult problems in loudspeaker cable design: the discrepancy between the amplifier's source impedance and the loudspeaker's load impedance.

All previous attempts to solve this problem aimed to bring the characteristic impedance of the speaker cable closer to the nominal impedance of the speakers. All these attempts failed because the impedance of a speaker changes with frequency, and the output impedance of the amplifier is something entirely different.

By eliminating the characteristic impedance of the Mythical Creatures speaker cable, current compression and distortion of the signal transient are significantly reduced. The result is dynamic contrast, transient response, and bass attack that are reproduced seemingly effortlessly.

FULL RAGE OR BI-WIRING

These new Mythical Creatures ZERO speaker cables can be used in two ways: either as ideal full-range cables or in combination with a dedicated bass cable in a bi-wire configuration for unparalleled performance. ThunderBird, FireBird, and Dragon bass cables utilize our patented Common Mode noise cancellation technology, providing an audibly dramatic additional reason for bi-wiring where possible.

SPADES OR BANANAS

Often, the choice between using spade or banana plugs on your speaker cables comes down to personal preference. AudioQuest spade and banana plugs use the same base metal, the same superior plating, and no metal-to-metal contact, resulting in parts of equal quality. However, the EU-compliant insulated terminals used in some power amplifiers often make it difficult or impossible to tighten spade plugs with high torque or pressure.
