MA12000 Integrated Amplifier

The McIntosh MA12000 AC is the ultimate integrated amplifier statement, a product of uncompromising audio engineering and impeccable craftsmanship. Never before has McIntosh built an integrated amplifier that delivers 350 watts per channel while combining the best of both worlds: the warm nuances of a tube preamp with the speed and performance of high-performance transistors in the power amp. It also features state-of-the-art digital audio capabilities and a wide range of analog audio inputs.

The MA12000 AC features a hybrid design. The preamplifier stage employs four 12AX7A vacuum tubes, whose signal is then passed to a transistorized power amplifier stage. This amplifier's uncompromising power can drive even the most demanding loudspeakers, thanks to McIntosh's Autoformer technology, regardless of whether the speakers have an impedance of two, four, or eight ohms.

The MA12000 AC has ten analog inputs, consisting of two balanced and six unbalanced inputs, as well as moving coil and moving magnet inputs.

The two phono inputs can be adjusted for MM/MC cartridges with regard to their electrical characteristics. A coaxial and an XLR output are available for connecting an additional power amplifier.

Thus, the MA12000 AC is once again the embodiment of timeless McIntosh aesthetics, with large VU meters, a black glass front panel, an illuminated McIntosh logo, aluminum end caps, and a beautifully polished stainless steel chassis.

The exclusive McIntosh features in the MA12000AC

Power Guard®
It monitors signal levels at the speed of light and adjusts them as needed to prevent speaker damage in case of high distortion and clipping.

Sentry Monitor™
McIntosh's short-circuit protection circuit shuts down the output stage before the current exceeds regular operating levels and automatically resets it when operating conditions return to normal.

Home Theater PassThru,
This allows for seamless integration into a home theater system. As a result, the MA9000 AC becomes a pure power amplifier, with volume controlled by the AV processor or AV receiver.

High Drive headphone amplifier
with Crossfeed Director (HXD®), which can add an extra dimension to the sound of the headphones.

Discrete, 8-band equalizer
which allows for manual-analog adjustment of favorite recordings

Corrosion-resistant, gold-plated speaker terminals
which ensure that a high-quality signal is always sent to the speakers

McIntosh Autoformer

A transistor amplifier operates best at its optimal impedance. This impedance can vary significantly from speaker to speaker. In some cases, speakers can have an impedance below 2 ohms. If a power amplifier is connected to an impedance below its optimal value, it demands more output current, which also results in increased temperature. The Autoformer creates an ideal connection between the amplifier and the speaker. From a measurement perspective, there are no quality limitations for the McIntosh Autoformer. The frequency response exactly matches that of the output stage. Distortion is so low that it cannot be measured by any instrument. In some cases, the Autoformer can even protect your speakers from significant damage. The specialized McIntosh Autoformers, with which McIntosh has over 60 years of experience, are an essential component of the renowned McIntosh sound.
