The MA252 AC hybrid integrated amplifier is new. So new, in fact, that you'll rub your eyes in disbelief at how McIntosh has once again managed to reinvent itself. Using two 12AX7A and two 12AT7 vacuum tubes, the first McIntosh hybrid integrated amplifier boasts an ingenious preamplifier section that delivers a sonically superior signal to the highly dynamic power amplifier stage. All of this is encased in a design that represents a perfect symbiosis of classic and modern elements, and which will undoubtedly appeal even to non-audiophiles.
Alongside the also newly released MA5300 AC, the MA252 AC is an ideal choice for smaller rooms or for someone just beginning to explore the McIntosh sound world. Its standout feature is undoubtedly the newly designed tube preamp section, which combines all the advantages of vacuum tube technology, such as a full, warm sound and superb soundstage, in its hybrid design. The MA252 AC's power amp section operates as a direct-coupled amplifier, capable of delivering a powerful 2 x 100 watts of McPower into 8-ohm speakers or 160 watts into 4-ohm speakers with accuracy and exceptional dynamics. It also features the highly effective McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks™ with the embossed McIntosh logo.
The MA252 AC features a fully analog layout, with two unbalanced, one balanced, and one moving magnet (MM) phono input. All four inputs can be named by the user for ease of operation. Bass and treble controls aid in fine-tuning the sound, and a subwoofer output allows for enhanced low-frequency reproduction.

It monitors signal levels at the speed of light and adjusts them as needed to prevent speaker damage in case of high distortion and clipping.
Sentry Monitor™
McIntosh's short-circuit protection circuit shuts down the output stage before the current exceeds regular operating levels and automatically resets it when operating conditions return to normal.
High Drive headphone amplifier
For headphones with an impedance of 20 – 600 ohms.
Corrosion-resistant, gold-plated speaker terminals ensure that a high-quality signal is always sent to the speakers.
