The Mark Levinson No. 632 is a sophisticated, fully symmetrical stereo power amplifier with dual monaural signal routing. Designed to the same standards as its mono counterpart, the No. 631, the No. 632 is the ideal choice for discerning high-end listeners seeking maximum performance and precision in a stereo enclosure. It impresses with exceptional spatial imaging, sonic transparency, and confident control over any speaker load.
Its design combines two completely separate amplifier circuits in a single chassis—each with its own power supply, signal processing, and mechanical isolation. This ensures not only maximum channel separation but also stable reproduction regardless of the dynamics of the music material.
Pure Path – discreet, symmetrical and distortion-free
Like all components in the 600 Series, the No. 632 is based on Pure Path technology. This eliminates operational amplifiers and instead relies on a completely discrete, fully balanced signal path – from the input stage to the output. The high operating voltage combined with a particularly high bias current enables nearly linear amplification across the entire audible frequency range.
The amplifier operates in Class A/AB mode, with a large portion of the output range operating in Class A mode – even at medium volumes. This gives the sound an organic depth, silky highs, and exceptional bass control. Vocals sound natural, instruments retain their correct spatial placement, and even complex passages retain their transparency.
Powerful power supply – stable and low-noise
The heart of the power supply is a centrally positioned, ultra-low-noise toroidal transformer, specially developed for use in the No. 632. It feeds the two amplifier circuits independently, delivering not only abundant power but also maximum stability—even with complex speaker impedances or impulsive music signals.
The power supply to the critical components is provided via separate sections. These are mechanically decoupled from each other and mounted with vibration dampening. This ensures that electromagnetic interference and vibrations do not affect the audio signal.
Maximum flexibility in connections
The No. 632 offers both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs per channel. The outputs consist of two pairs of Hurricane speaker terminals, which are particularly robust and low-loss. They enable bi-wiring or bi-amping setups and are ideal for speakers with separate tweeter and woofer sections. This flexibility allows the amplifier to be optimally adapted to any speaker system—be it compact, floor-standing, or large-format.
The ability to operate both channels individually and provide them with customized settings makes the No. 632 the perfect centerpiece of a high-end stereo system. It unfolds its full acoustic potential, especially when combined with the matching No. 626 preamplifier.
Thermal management and housing design
The No. 632 impresses not only sonically, but also mechanically and visually. Its cabinet is made of solid, black anodized aluminum in the striking Tectonic design. A central glass front panel with red LED accent lighting extends across the entire control panel, creating a sophisticated contrast with the silver base.
For efficient cooling, the device is equipped with generous side panels made of aluminum heat sinks. Additionally, a ventilated top panel with an embedded glass element ensures thermal stability during continuous operation. The result is an amplifier that remains cool and quiet even under full load – a feature crucial for long-term stability and durability.
Integration and control
For integration into modern audio systems, the No. 632 offers trigger inputs and outputs as well as an RS-232 interface, which allows the amplifier to be remotely controlled and integrated into intelligent control systems. This makes the device suitable not only for classic two-channel setups, but also for upscale home theaters or studio applications with high performance requirements.
