T+A PS 3000 HV V 3.0 power supply

The PS 3000 HV is an additional high-performance power supply and was specially developed for the A 3000 HV output stage. With over 500 watts of power at 4 ohms, the A 3000 HV has such a high level of sound and performance that simply increasing the output power, and thus the voltage, does not result in any significant sound improvements. Our research and development work on high-performance power amplifiers such as the M 10 or S 10 and the resulting development of the HV concept have clearly shown that the stability of the voltage and power supply through a power supply unit is of decisive and greater importance for the sound quality of a power amplifier . We drew the right conclusions from this and developed an external, additional power supply.

The concept is ingenious and works as follows: When the PS 3000 HV is connected to the A 3000 HV output stage via the special Powerlink cable with M-23 high-current contact connectors, the internal power supply of the A 3000 HV takes over the supply of the input stages and the high-voltage amplifier. Much less power is converted there and inevitably there is also much less interference in the A 3000 HV itself. The external PS 3000 HV then provides the supply for the output stages of the A 3000 HV and thus the large currents for the power output stages.

With 1200 VA, the PS 3000 HV is even more powerful than the power supply unit of the A 3000 HV and also has twice as high a screening capacity. This significantly improves the power delivery capability and stability of the overall system.

The great sonic advantage of this concept is that the charging currents and network-induced disturbances are kept away from the A 3000 HV, as these can have a negative impact on the sound quality.
The PS 3000 HV is completely controlled by the A 3000 HV output stage via the H-Link bus and the Powerlink connection. A PS 3000 HV is required for every A 3000 HV whose mains supply is to be upgraded. The large VU meter optionally shows various information such as the supply voltage or the supplied current.

All HV devices are equipped with a soft start function so that the household fuses do not fly out when the devices are switched on. The control processor limits the inrush current and slowly starts up the devices!
