This device is a used device and is in good condition.

With the NAC-N 272, Naim Audio combines decades of experience in analog signal processing with cutting-edge digital and network technology. This exceptional device is far more than just a preamplifier: It is also a high-quality network streamer, an excellent DAC, and a central hub for both digital and analog music sources—making it the heart of any ambitious hi-fi system.

Digital diversity at the highest level

At the heart of the NAC-N 272's digital section is a high-precision Burr-Brown PCM1792A D/A converter, processing music data up to 24-bit/192 kHz with outstanding sonic quality. A Naim-developed oversampling system ensures the highest fidelity, upsampling incoming signals up to 768 kHz, depending on the source frequency. The digital architecture is fully galvanically isolated from the analog signal processing to prevent interference and ensure maximum sonic purity.

The NAC-N 272 supports all common music formats, including WAV, FLAC, AIFF, ALAC, AAC, MP3, and DSD64 (DSF and DFF). Via the home network, the device can access local music servers as a UPnP streamer and also offers access to modern streaming services such as TIDAL and Spotify Connect. Bluetooth with aptX support and integrated internet radio complement the network offering. Thanks to an Ethernet port and Wi-Fi module, flexible integration into the home network is easily possible.

Classic analogue technology – implemented without compromise

Despite its digital capabilities, the NAC-N 272 remains true to its audiophile roots: The analog preamplifier circuitry is based on Naim's reference technologies and was developed specifically for this model. Volume control is controlled by a precision-engineered potentiometer directly inspired by the Naim Statement series. All audio signals pass through discrete Class-A circuits to largely eliminate distortion and interference. Two analog inputs – one each on DIN and RCA – allow connection to traditional sources such as CD players or phono preamps.

On the output side, you'll find a variable RCA and DIN preamplifier output, as well as an additional line output with a constant level. An integrated headphone amplifier with a 6.3 mm jack socket on the front panel offers an additional, high-quality listening option for private music enjoyment—also in Class A quality, of course.

Variety of connections for every application

The NAC-N 272 is designed for maximum connectivity and flexibility. In addition to its analog inputs, it features a total of six digital S/PDIF inputs (1 x BNC, 2 x RCA, 3 x optical), all capable of high-resolution signals up to 24-bit/192 kHz. A USB-A port on the front panel allows direct access to music files from USB sticks or Apple devices. For multi-room applications, the unit can stream audio to up to four additional Naim components on the home network.

Expandable and future-proof

The NAC-N 272 is designed to grow with your music system. Its internal power supply is of high quality, but can be significantly upgraded with external Naim power supplies such as the XP5 XS, XPS, or 555 PS. These expansion options make the device a future-proof investment for anyone who wants to gradually upgrade their system to reference quality.

Solid workmanship and well-thought-out design

The NAC-N 272 also impresses externally with its clean lines, high-quality materials, and intuitive user interface. The high-contrast OLED display provides all important information at a glance, and operation is possible via the included remote control, the free Naim app, or directly on the device. The cabinet finish follows typical Naim standards: low-vibration construction, shielded components, a solid aluminum front panel, and clear separation of the internal signal paths.
