The SL-40CBT comes with a pre-installed cartridge and an integrated phono preamplifier. Both components are precisely matched, allowing you to connect the turntable directly to active speakers or to an amplifier with passive speakers. This ensures you can enjoy authentic vinyl playback without any intermediate steps.

Precise tonearm construction

Despite its compact design, the SL-40CBT retains the classic S-shape of the tonearm. The minimized tonearm base reduces space requirements without compromising tracking precision. Micrometer-precise manufacturing guarantees reliable tracking and high playback quality.

High-quality pickup for clear sound reproduction

Included in the package is the Audio-Technica AT-VM95C, a cartridge with a conical stylus. This offers clear and detailed sound reproduction that will impress both beginners and experienced vinyl enthusiasts. The integrated phono preamplifier, specifically designed for this system, further enhances the musicality.

Stable turntable with precise torque control

A key element of the SL-40CBT is its 1.26-kilogram die-cast aluminum platter. Reinforcing ribs enhance stability, while the directly mounted motor magnet ensures constant rotation and precise torque control. This results in exceptionally smooth record playback.

Improved vibration damping

To minimize interference from external influences, the turntable features newly tuned damping feet. These increase vibration resistance and reduce acoustic feedback. The optimized rubber hardness shifts potential resonances specifically outside the audible range, thus preserving a clear, interference-free sound.

Digital motor control for highest accuracy

The motor's digital control ensures maximum rotational accuracy. This is achieved through three key technologies: precise speed detection, calibration of each individual unit during production, and digitally optimized control signals for the motor. The result is a consistent and absolutely reliable speed.

Optimized circuit design

To avoid sonic distortion, Technics employs a separate circuit design in the SL-40CBT. The circuit boards for power supply, motor control, and phono EQ are spatially separated from the tonearm and connected via crossover-free cables. This design minimizes interference and contributes to a clear, detailed sound.

Precise phono circuitry

The integrated MM phono equalizer is precisely calibrated to the included cartridge. High-quality components and meticulous tuning ensure exceptionally low signal processing. This preserves the musical detail and enhances the natural character of the vinyl sound.

Sound quality, remastered

A new 8cm woofer and a new 2cm tweeter have been specially developed for the new C70MK2. Furthermore, a new acoustic lens, adapted to the new tweeter, enables even better resolution and wider sound dispersion for powerful sound coverage of even larger living rooms.

8cm woofer

The voice coil has been made lighter, and air circulation has also been improved. Furthermore, the woofer diaphragm now has greater rigidity, which reduces partial vibrations and increases power handling.

High-resolution capable 2cm tweeter dome

The high-frequency characteristics were significantly improved by using a lighter dome.

Acoustic lens

The shape of the new acoustic lens was adapted to the new tweeter dome. The sound radiation characteristics were also improved.

3 JENO engines

To faithfully reproduce demanding audio signals via the 3.1 speaker system, we equipped the C70MK with three complete amplifier units called "JENO Engines." These three amplifier units drive the left and right channels as well as the subwoofer discreetly and effectively, supported by the high processing power of the three units. Using "Space Tune," the sound quality can be individually adjusted to the specific room acoustics.

Precise dynamics and excellent spatiality

LAPC

Speaker impedance changes with frequency, subjecting the amplifier to constantly fluctuating loads. The technology called "LAPC" (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration) corrects this effect by essentially compensating for the speaker impedance using adaptive algorithms. It is derived from the technology used in Technics reference amplifiers. This balances the frequency response characteristics of both the amplifier's amplitude and phase, while the three amplifier circuits powering the subwoofer and the two stereo channels deliver an ideal impulse response.

Eliminates noise and interference

Dual power supply

Conventional power supplies use a single transformer that powers both the amplifier section and the digital signal processing unit. If load fluctuations occur or noise develops in one component, other components are affected, impacting sound quality. The C70MK2 employs a dual power supply system, providing separate power to the amplifier and the other components. This eliminates mutual interference, ensuring the sound remains unaffected by noise or load fluctuations. Furthermore, the overall design allows the transformer to supply power to its components via the shortest possible path, further reducing noise.

Even more naturalness and expression in the soundscape

Re-Master

The extremely precise signal processing of the JENO engine extends the frequency range of Bluetooth and internet radio sources, where the high bands are lost through compression, back to a frequency range equivalent to that of a CD. As a result, these sources sound fresher and have better detail resolution than in their unprocessed state.

Sound optimization depending on the listening environment

Space Tune™

The SC-C70MK2 features the Space Tune™ Auto function, which optimally adjusts the system's sound to the listening environment at the touch of a button. This function uses a built-in microphone to measure test tones emitted by the speakers, analyzing the distance to walls and the effects of reflections. The resulting data is then used to correct and adjust the sound. The Space Tune™ function also includes three presets (Free, Near Wall, Near Corner) for simplified setup. To optimally adjust the sound to the actual listening position, it's best to use the Space Tune™ Space function in the Technics Audio Center app, which allows for optimization from the listening position.

Connection variety

Chromecast on board

The built-in Chromecast function supports a wide variety of streaming services for easy control from a mobile device. Since the actual music data is streamed directly from the provider's server to the network device, sound quality is not affected. The mobile device then simply serves to access the extensive music selection from the streaming provider via its native app.

Compatible with Google Assistant

If a network device with Google Assistant is on the same network, the Google Assistant can be used to voice-control the SC-C70MK2. This is convenient if the user doesn't have a mobile device handy or if their hands are simply full.

Multiroom*1

If you have multiple Chromecast devices in your home, you can distribute a specific music source to all the relevant rooms. You can also play completely different sources in each room.*1

If you use the Technics Audio Center app and own one or more other compatible Technics network devices, you can also distribute other sources such as Bluetooth, AUX, Optical Digital, USB or Internet radio to other rooms.

Extensive compatibility

In addition to CD and radio (FM/AM, DAB+), the new C70MK2 is also Chromecast compatible and therefore supports a wide variety of streaming services, including Spotify Connect and Deezer. Internet radio is, of course, also included. The C70MK2 also supports AirPlay 2, Bluetooth Wi-Fi, network playback (DLNA), playback from USB drives, and playback from both analog and optical digital sources. This makes the C70MK2 a true all-rounder. You'll also appreciate the completely redesigned user interface of our mobile app for iOS and Android, called the "Technics Audio Center App," which is now even easier and more intuitive to use.

Favorites function

The C70MK2 device allows you to program up to 9 preset buttons directly on the unit. Here you can save, for example, your favorite internet radio stations, a Spotify playlist, or tracks from a USB stick. This way you can enjoy your favorite music even without an app.
