Yamaha RX500A 7.2-Channel Home Theater AV Receiver

The Yamaha RX500A combines 7.2-channel surround sound with modern video and streaming capabilities. Dolby Atmos and DTS enable spatial audio playback with added height effects, while HDMI 2.1 supports 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz for integrating the latest video sources. Thanks to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and numerous streaming services, the RX500A is equally suitable for movies, TV series, gaming, and music.

Immersive 7.2 channel surround sound

With seven power amplifiers and support for up to 7.1 decoding, the RX500A forms the basis for flexible home theater configurations. Dolby Atmos and DTS enable three-dimensional sound reproduction. Various speaker configurations are available for Dolby Atmos, including ceiling speakers, upward-firing speakers, and virtual height effects.

The output power is 2 x 75 watts into 8 ohms at 20 Hz to 20 kHz and 0.09% THD. In single-channel mode, up to 145 watts into 6 ohms are available. The receiver is also suitable for bi-amping.

HDMI 2.1 for 4K/120 and 8K/60

Four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output support HDMI 2.1 and enable the processing of high-resolution video signals up to 8K/60 Hz or 4K/120 Hz. Supported gaming features include VRR, ALLM, and QMS. HDMI eARC and ARC allow the transmission of TV audio over a single HDMI cable.

Modern HDR standards are also supported. These include HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Hybrid Log-Gamma.

Room correction for the listening room

The included calibration microphone analyzes the acoustic properties of the room and the connected speakers. The integrated room correction then optimizes the playback according to the specific listening environment.

The RX500A also offers features such as Dialogue Level, Subwoofer Trim, Extra Bass and Lip Sync to adapt the sound to different content and listening situations.

Streaming and network

The RX500A offers access to numerous streaming options via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Google Cast, and AirPlay 2 are supported. Internet radio and podcasts are also available.

Bluetooth 5.3 enables wireless playback and supports multipoint. This allows two Bluetooth devices to be paired and used flexibly.

Versatile connectivity options

In addition to the four HDMI inputs, there are two analog RCA inputs as well as one optical and one coaxial digital input. A USB port allows playback of compatible audio files from mass storage devices and can be used for firmware updates.

Seven speaker outputs are available. Two subwoofer pre-outs allow the connection of up to two active subwoofers. A headphone output completes the range of connections.

Sound modes for different content

With Pure Direct, Straight, Movie, Music, Stereo, and other sound modes, playback can be adapted to the specific content and personal preferences. Night mode reduces disruptive dynamic peaks for a more subdued sound at low volumes.

Scene keys for direct access

The Scene function allows you to save up to four individual presets. Input, sound mode, and other settings can be assigned to a Scene and then accessed directly via the remote control or the device itself.

Sturdy construction

For a stable construction, Yamaha relies, among other things, on its Anti-Resonance Technology (ART) Wedge. The additional centrally positioned stand complements the four outer feet and is designed to reduce vibrations. The circuit design, focused on precise signal routing and a well-thought-out component layout, supports accurate audio and video processing.
