The 30VA toroidal transformer of the PWX power supply, which is designed as an interference protection transformer with a grounded shield winding, is essential for the achieved sound quality. Practically all systems on the market from high-output MM to MC can be connected to the Black Cube SE. There is one slot per channel for the solderless assembly of an optional impedance as well as an additional, directly effective hard wire slot.

The input stages used in the Black Cube SE can also be found in very high-quality mixing consoles and in microphone preamplifiers from manufacturers of professional studio electronics. For the passive RIAA filter network, high-quality, pulse-resistant polypropylene film capacitors with close tolerances are used. All resistors are low-noise metal film types. Of course, only switches with gold-plated contacts are used to switch the amplification and the impedances.

Due to its small dimensions, the Black Cube SE can be set up very close to the disk drive. This minimizes possible losses due to cable lengths. Neutrik XLR connectors with gold-plated contacts ensure secure contact between the audio part and the PWX power supply.

Lehmannaudio also attaches great importance to details: The cable between the power supply unit and the audio part is shielded. In addition, the housing of the PWX power supply and audio part are made of non-magnetic material (aluminum) and each is mechanically damped in the cover.
