Dave Pike Set - Noisy Silence - Gentle Noise
Jazz · World Music · Fusion · Blues · Funk
While Frank Zappa was working on his jazz-rock album Hot Rats in 1969, vibraphonist Dave Pike worked with Volker Kriegel (guitar), Hans Rettenbacher (bass) and Peter Baumeister (drums) on the Dave Pike set debut NOISY SILENCE - GENTLE NOISE for the Black Forest label MPS. Apart from the high-quality recording, we hear a wonderful jazz fusion mix of blues, funk and world music. Anyone who has an ear for Zappa's music will quickly hear that he was not only one of the sources of inspiration - a cover version of Zappa's We're only in it for the Money (1968) also made it onto the album. All other compositions are by Kriegel and Rettenbacher and are perfect for sitting in the sun and writing a few words about the great album NOISY SILENCE - GENTLE NOISE.
