FAITH NO MORE - ANGEL DUST
Some albums are said to be years ahead of current music. But looking back, no one can say how many years it was. Does ANGEL DUST by Faith No More seem old-fashioned today?
ANGEL DUST was just right in 1992 and attracted a lot of attention with its fusion mix of rock, funk and what not. The crowd was happy about the Lionel Richie cover “Easy”, bought the album and got to know a rock band that simply didn't want to be chained down musically and in their artistic expression.
With “Land of Sunshine”, singer Mike Patton presents a song whose lyrics are made up of quotes from a Scientology book and Chinese fortune cookies. The recurring rhythm changes in the songs and Patton's vocal acrobatics between aggressive screaming and melodic singing actually only feel right for many after listening to two or three listens. This is how you recognize a real masterpiece.
