Bryston Bi-200 – powerful integrated amplifier with high-end preamplifier and 200 watts per channel

The Bryston Bi-200 combines the sophisticated preamplifier technology of the BP-19 with the powerful power amplifier technology of the Bryston 3B in a single chassis. This results in a high-quality, high-end integrated amplifier that combines the sonic and technical advantages of separate components while saving rack space and additional interconnect cables.

At its core is a fully symmetrical, discrete signal path designed for exceptionally precise and low-noise processing. Volume is digitally controlled, while the actual signal processing relies entirely on high-quality analog circuitry. With up to six connectable analog sources, the Bi-200 also offers ample flexibility for comprehensive hi-fi systems.

For amplification, Bryston employs a dual-mono design, delivering 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. At 4 ohms, it even provides 300 watts per channel. This gives the Bi-200 ample power reserves, allowing it to effortlessly drive even demanding loudspeakers. The high-quality amplifier architecture further enhances the precise and dynamic sound reproduction.

An optional MM/MC phono stage also allows for the direct connection of a turntable. Vinyl enthusiasts can thus integrate the Bi-200 into their system without an additional external phono component. The phono section is designed for low-noise and low-distortion signal processing and significantly expands the integrated amplifier's range of applications.

The features for personal music enjoyment are also extensive. An independently buffered headphone output allows for direct headphone use without affecting the speaker outputs or the main signal paths. Additionally, a channel balance control is available to correct minor level differences between the left and right channels.

Bryston has completely eliminated fans for cooling. The Bi-200 uses pure convection cooling, thus eliminating any disruptive fan noise. This ensures exceptionally quiet operation and is in keeping with the demands of a high-quality hi-fi component.

For seamless integration into modern systems, the integrated amplifier offers extensive control options. RS232, Ethernet, and USB enable status and control functions, while compatibility with the Bryston BR-4 remote control allows for convenient operation from the listening position. A DC trigger output also allows for the automatic control of other connected components.

An integrated soft-start microprocessor reduces the load on the power grid during startup and prevents sensitive circuits from being unnecessarily burdened by high inrush currents. This allows the Bi-200 to operate reliably even in demanding installations.

The housing is made of high-quality, precision-machined aluminum and features a matching front panel. Depending on the desired look, a choice can be made between a consumer-style front panel without handles and one with handles.

With its combination of a powerful dual-mono power amplifier, fully balanced preamplifier technology, extensive connectivity, optional phono stage, and versatile control options, the Bryston Bi-200 offers a particularly compact solution for demanding hi-fi systems. Integrating the preamplifier and power amplifier into a single chassis simultaneously reduces space requirements and the need for additional interconnect cables.
