Bryston 9B Cubed – powerful multi-channel power amplifier with independent amplifier channels

The Bryston 9B Cubed is a high-quality multi-channel power amplifier for demanding home cinema, stereo, and multi-room systems. With up to five fully independent amplifier channels, it offers a powerful and flexible solution for complex audio installations. Each channel has its own power supply and toroidal transformer, ensuring that even when one channel is heavily driven, the other channels can fully utilize their power reserves.

The 9B Cubed delivers 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and up to 300 watts into 4 ohms. This makes the amplifier suitable for demanding loudspeakers and dynamic multi-channel applications. The generous power reserves ensure a confident and controlled sound reproduction, while the high channel separation supports the independent operation of the individual amplifier stages.

The modular design offers exceptional flexibility. The Bryston 9B Cubed is available with three, four, or five channels. Depending on system requirements, channels can be added or removed later. This allows the amplifier to be adapted to growing home theater and hi-fi systems without having to replace the entire power amplifier.

For high-quality signal transmission, balanced XLR and unbalanced inputs are available. Additionally, the gain can be switched between 23 and 29 dB. This allows the power amplifier to be flexibly adapted to different preamplifiers, processors, and system configurations.

A special feature of the Cubed series is the patented Salomie circuit, which Bryston is using for the first time in this five-channel configuration. It forms an important part of the amplifier architecture and contributes to precise, dynamic, and low-distortion signal processing.

The system integration is also comprehensive. All important operating information can be conveniently accessed via a web-enabled device using the integrated network interface. This includes temperature, clipping/overdrive, and firmware status. Furthermore, individual channels can be muted, and functions such as switching on and off can be controlled via the network.

For automated installations, a DC trigger is also available. The soft-start microprocessor controls the power-on process, thereby reducing the load on the power grid. With a standby power consumption of less than 500 mW, the 9B Cubed is also designed for energy-efficient standby operation.

Cooling is achieved entirely through convection, eliminating the need for a fan. This makes the multi-channel amplifier exceptionally quiet and suitable for high-end home theater and listening environments where disruptive operating noise is undesirable.

Visually and mechanically, Bryston relies on a robust, precision-machined aluminum housing with an anodized front panel. The 9B Cubed is available with a silver or black front panel and in various widths. For professional applications, a 19-inch PRO version with rack mounting and rear-mounted channel trim controls is available.

The Bryston 9B Cubed combines high output power, modular expandability, and consistently independent power supplies for each channel. The combination of up to five amplifier stages, Salomie circuitry, network control, and extensive integration options makes it a versatile power amplifier for demanding multi-channel hi-fi and home theater systems.
