The Anthem MCA 325 Gen 2 is a 3-channel power amplifier with an output power of 225 watts per channel. Designed and manufactured in Canada, the second generation of the MCA series is based on a revised circuit architecture focusing on reduced distortion, high signal purity, and stable power delivery.
Revised circuit architecture
The Gen 2 platform was developed with the goal of optimizing the signal path and minimizing internal interference. Reduced internal cabling ensures shorter signal paths and more direct transmission.
Combined with improved input transistors and an optimized circuit topology, this results in high transparency across the entire frequency spectrum. Even with complex program material, the signal structure remains stable and comprehensible.
High-current capable power supply
A key element of the MCA 325 Gen 2 is its high-performance power supply. It utilizes a specially developed toroidal transformer with low stray field emission, ensuring a clean and constant power supply.
The high supply voltage and generous dimensioning enable dynamic and controlled power output – even at low impedances and rapid load changes.
Output stage with high load capacity
Each channel is equipped with eight bipolar power transistors. Distributing the load across multiple components reduces the thermal and electrical stress on individual components.
This results in stable power output and supports reliable long-term operation even under high load.
Low distortion and high signal-to-noise ratio
The revised amplifier architecture achieves a very low total harmonic distortion (THD) and a high signal-to-noise ratio of up to 120 dB.
These features enable clean, detailed playback with minimal background noise and high resolution – regardless of volume or dynamics.
Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM™)
The integrated Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM™) technology continuously monitors temperature, current and voltage within the system.
In the event of critical operating conditions, the protection system intervenes selectively without affecting the signal path via conventional fuses. Unaffected channels remain active, and normal operation is automatically restored once conditions have stabilized.
Energy efficiency and control
The amplifier is characterized by low standby power consumption of approximately 1–2 watts. In addition to manual activation, trigger and signal-controlled activation options are available.
These options allow for flexible integration into different system environments.
Connection section
The MCA 325 Gen 2 is equipped with large, gold-plated speaker terminals that ensure secure contact and low-loss signal transmission.
The design is intended to ensure a stable connection even with high-quality and large-dimensioned speaker cables.
System integration and scalability
Within a multi-channel setup, the MCA 325 Gen 2 can be used flexibly, for example in combination with AV processors such as the Anthem AVM 70 or Anthem AVM 90.
The modular structure of the MCA series allows different numbers of channels to be combined in order to efficiently supply even extensive speaker configurations.
Design and manufacturing
The housing is based on a robust metal construction with generously sized heat sinks for passive heat dissipation. The mechanical design is geared towards long-term stability and reliable operation.
Manufacturing takes place in Canada and follows a clear focus on build quality and electrical precision.
