Étude Stereo Power Amplifier
The Chord Electronics Choral Étude is a compact, high-end stereo power amplifier in the Class AB category. The model is based on a completely redesigned circuit topology that utilizes advanced technologies from the aerospace industry to ensure extremely fast power delivery, high dynamics, and precise control over the speaker drivers.
Signal processing and topology
The Étude's circuitry utilizes multi-feedback and dual-feed-forward error-correction amplifier technology. By design, this architecture compensates for and optimizes the linearity of the proprietary 250-watt high-power lateral MOSFETs. The amplifier is specifically designed to unlock the full potential of high-resolution sources and preamplifiers, such as the Chord Electronics DAVE DAC.
Power supply architecture and cooling element
The housing contains three independent high-frequency switching power supplies: one dedicated power supply for each of the two active supply rails and a third power supply for the auxiliary rails. Advanced internal shielding minimizes interference. Cooling is achieved via an actively cooled plenum chamber design, which ensures a thermally stable environment for the components.
Flexible performance mode
In its standard configuration, the Étude delivers a conservatively rated 150 watts RMS per channel into 4 ohms. For systems with higher power requirements, the amplifier can be operated in bridged mono mode, increasing the output power to 300 watts into 4 ohms.
