The Luxman D-03R combines classic CD playback with state-of-the-art digital technology and impressive musicality. True to Luxman's reputation, it offers natural ease, detail, and stability in every playback.

Digital precision

At the heart of the D-03R are two ROHM BD34352EKV DACs operating in dual-mono mode, processing PCM up to 384 kHz / 32-bit and DSD up to 22.5 MHz. High-resolution files can be played from a PC, Mac, or NAS via USB. Coaxial and optical inputs support PCM up to 192 kHz / 24-bit as well as DSD (2.8 MHz, DoP). MQA CDs and MQA files are fully decoded; alternatively, MQA processing can be bypassed. A low-phase-noise master clock generator minimizes jitter for maximum precision.

Mechanics and housing

CD playback is handled by a single laser drive mounted on a 3.2 mm steel base with an additional cover plate for vibration protection. The asymmetrical chassis design separates the drive, digital and analog sections, shortens signal paths, and ensures stable weight distribution for smooth, natural playback.

Analog output stage

The analog output stage utilizes the differential signals from the DACs, combined with high-quality I/V conversion and low-impedance buffering. Balanced XLR outputs (Neutrik) and gold-plated RCA outputs (18 mm pitch) ensure low-loss signal transmission and optimal integration into hi-fi systems.

Power supply and stability

A generously sized power transformer supplies the sections separately. The D/A conversion capacity has been doubled to achieve even more stable and dynamic playback. The loop-less chassis reduces magnetic interference, and the inverted power connector ensures a secure and stable connection.

Operation and integration

The high-contrast OLED display offers four dimmer levels, a zoom function, and automatic brightness control. The solid aluminum front panel controls are clearly arranged. The included RD-28 remote control manages playback, inputs, and display settings. Control-in/out jacks allow the D-03R to be integrated into existing Luxman systems. The free Luxman Audio Player is available for PC/Mac users.
