McIntosh MS 500 Music Streamer
McIntosh MS500
streaming server
The sophisticated yet easy-to-use MS500 Music Streamer seamlessly integrates both your internet-based music and locally stored digital music into one comprehensive device. So you can enjoy your digital library with McIntosh audio standards - including uncompressed, lossless files with a resolution of up to 24-bit / 192 kHz.
With all of its onboard storage and external connectivity features, the MS500 can easily serve as a central hub for all your digital music.
The high-speed network connection connects you to leading streaming services such as Deezer, Murphy, Pandora, Rhapsody, SiriusXM, Slacker, Spotify, TIDAL and TuneIn (subject to change). Interfaces to these services are built into the MS500 so you can listen to all your streaming music at any time. Internet radio stations can also be added as presets. Three USB ports enable the connection of external mass storage devices or flash drives.
The MS500 runs exceptionally quietly thanks to two key features: First, local music and the operating system are stored on a durable 500GB Solid State Drive (SSD) that has no moving parts that could generate noise. Second, a fanless processor combined with improved ventilation means no loud cooling fans are needed. So there is no noise that could disturb your listening to music.
Automatic synchronization
The MS500 can automatically sync content stored on your computers on the network, making it easily accessible and playable. All your content can be backed up to Amazon Cloud Drive, Apple iCloud or Google Drive. This also allows your music to be synced across multiple homes or locations if each location has an MS500 installed. New music purchases from these cloud services can be automatically added to your library for easy playback.
A set of balanced and unbalanced analog outputs and two digital outputs connect the MS500 to your preamp, integrated amplifier or other audio component. The MS500's high-quality digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is isolated from the motherboard, ensuring your music is reproduced with extreme precision and elegance when using any of the analog outputs. Any of the USB ports can also be used to connect an external component to an onboard DAC - including select McIntosh products; 2 with this external DAC, an additional independent audio zone can be created.
The MS500 uses a Linux-based operating system that offers stability and is extremely responsive to user input. It is operated using the remote control supplied, a web browser or free apps for iPhone, iPad or Android devices. The device is compatible with many common home systems, enabling easy integration into your existing setup. The timeless signature McIntosh black glass front, illuminated logo and aluminum end caps make the MS500 a welcome addition to any audio system and room decor.
