Burmester B38 Floorstanding Speaker

The new Burmester B38 loudspeaker comes from the successful B series family from the Burmester loudspeaker portfolio. Visually and sonically closely related to the B18 loudspeaker, the larger model benefits from the elegant shapes as well as the acoustic principle, which, with its significantly increased volume, is even more impressive than its smaller sister. All possibilities that arise from scaling the concept were consistently used. The 3-way principle is equipped with a powerful side-firing woofer to achieve a slim and elegant design that can be seamlessly integrated into a wide variety of living environments and at the same time impresses with impulsive, powerful bass reproduction.

The design is optimized in the spirit of puristic elegance. This is evident, among other things, in the screwless integrated speaker front panel, whose appearance makes the slim shape of the speaker stand out even better. This makes it possible to make the appearance of the loudspeaker appear less technical or mechanical and more in the style of an elegant furniture design. The aluminum front rounds off the look of the speaker with high-quality finishes in matt lacquer or selected veneers.

Technology

The Burmester B38 loudspeaker offers two different options for individually adapting the sound experience, which can be used to significantly reduce room influences. The two-stage switch on the rear wall of the housing causes a broadband bass reduction of 1-3 dB between 150 Hz and 37 Hz. In addition, the bass reproduction can be influenced mechanically, using a cylinder made of porous foam, which is inserted completely or partially into the bass reflex tube Room situation or personal listening taste can be adjusted. Of course, the B38 offers the option of connecting two power amplifiers per speaker (bi-amping). In classic single amp operation, the high-quality connecting bridges made of gold-plated, oxygen-free copper connect the copper terminals with the same material properties. This means that undesirable contact resistance is practically completely avoided.
The housing, optimized using the finite element method (FEM), is equipped with complex stiffeners to ensure precise bass reproduction. The double-layered side wall with a stainless steel ring for additional fixation of the bass chassis further increases the rigidity of the construction and thus promotes the strength and stability of the housing construction. To decouple the housing from the floor, the precise spring-mass damping system, which had already proven itself on the B18, was adopted and adapted accordingly.
