Grado Reference 4 Low Output

With the Reference 4 Low Output, Grado presents a moving-iron cartridge from the Timbre Series that combines high resolution with control and musical naturalness. Decades of experience in cartridge development are incorporated into its design, enabling precise, dynamic, and balanced vinyl playback.

The Reference 4 Low Output utilizes Grado's patented Flux-Bridger principle. This design keeps the coil structure fixed in position, while an exceptionally low moving mass ensures fast and sensitive signal processing. The result is a detailed yet authoritative sound reproduction with clear spatial imaging and excellent control.

A nude Shibata diamond stylus, mounted on a precision-machined boron cantilever, is used for tracking. This combination enables exceptionally precise tracking of the record groove and high resolution across the entire frequency range. The treble remains delicate and balanced, the midrange impresses with its natural presence, while the bass frequencies are reproduced with definition and power.

Grado uses high-purity 6N-OCC copper in the signal path. Cryogenic treatment and internal damping of the cartridge help to reduce unwanted resonances and preserve signal integrity.

The Reference 4's plinth is made of American Osage wood, specifically selected for resonance control and tonal balance. The redesigned plinth shape also provides better visibility of the cantilever, facilitating precise tonearm alignment.

The Reference4's low-output version can be combined with a wide variety of phono preamplifiers. It is also available in stereo and mono versions.
