With the Ortofon MC Exclusive, the traditional Danish brand presents a moving-coil cartridge system that combines state-of-the-art materials, innovative manufacturing technologies, and decades of experience in analog music reproduction. Developed for the highest sonic demands, the system impresses with exceptional detail resolution, precise tracking, and a natural, balanced reproduction across the entire frequency spectrum.
Vertex diamond for maximum detail
At the heart of the system is a specially developed Vertex diamond stylus with line contact geometry. Its exceptionally large contact area with the record groove allows it to precisely capture and reliably track even the finest modulations. The result is outstanding tracking accuracy, exceptionally high resolution of the smallest musical details, and even wear across the groove walls, reducing wear on both the record and the stylus.
Optimized magnetic system with silver coils
For precise signal conversion, Ortofon relies on a sophisticated magnetic system with a non-magnetic armature and high-purity silver coils. This combination enables exceptionally low-loss signal transmission and contributes to a finely detailed, dynamic, and musically balanced sound reproduction. With an output voltage of 0.3 mV, the system is recommended for high-quality MC phono preamps with a corresponding gain factor.
Solid diamond cantilever
A particular highlight is the solid diamond cantilever. Made from solid diamond, this cantilever combines extreme rigidity with minimal weight, enabling exceptionally precise transmission of even the finest movements. Impulses are transmitted almost without delay, resulting in exceptionally clean transient reproduction and giving the music greater clarity, dynamics, and naturalness.
Resonance control through modern titanium housing
The housing is manufactured from titanium using the sophisticated selective laser melting (SLM) process. This advanced manufacturing technology enables exceptionally high structural stability while maintaining low weight. Unwanted resonances are effectively reduced, allowing the pickup unit to operate under optimal conditions. The result is clean, unadulterated, and precise music reproduction.
Patented broadband attenuation system
Another key to the exceptional performance is Ortofon's patented broadband damping system. A specially developed platinum disc, combined with custom-tuned rubber compounds, controls resonances across a particularly wide frequency range. This optimizes transient response, dynamics, and tonal balance, while maintaining high control and stability during playback.
High-quality workmanship down to the last detail
Gold-plated connectors ensure consistently reliable signal transmission and protect against corrosion. Color coding allows for quick and easy wiring. The standardized ½-inch mounting also enables straightforward installation on a wide variety of high-quality tonearms.
