Thorens TD1601 with TP160
The TD 1601 with the newly developed TP 160 tonearm sets new standards in the world of high-end record players. This precise further development of the award-winning TD 1601 combines classic elegance with modern technology at the highest level.
The record player impresses with its elegant wooden frame and the two-part aluminum platter, which is driven by a polished drive belt. The external, linearly regulated TPN 1600 power supply supplies the powerful synchronous motor with 2x 16V and thus ensures outstanding synchronization stability of the platter.
The TP 160 tonearm, designed by renowned designer Helmut Thiele, is a masterpiece of engineering. With its ultra-precise cutting bearing and innovative magnetic stabilization of the horizontal bearing, the J-shaped 9-inch tonearm guarantees unparalleled tracking accuracy. The SME headshell connection also offers optimal flexibility in the choice of pickup.
The sub-chassis of the TD 1601 is also technically sophisticated: it rests on three springs that are attached to the bottom of the housing, which prevents unwanted lateral wobbling. A taut steel thread that runs in extension of the axis between the motor roller and the platter axis ensures a piston-like oscillation of the sub-chassis and thus supports precise reproduction.
For the discerning listener, the TD 1601 also offers state-of-the-art operating comfort with a patented electric lift and a contactless limit switch.
The balanced XLR outputs underline the professional quality of the record player. Thanks to the True Balanced Connection, the sensitive phono signal is optimally protected from electrical interference. This connection method unfolds its full potential in combination with a moving coil (MC) pickup and ensures the highest level of sound fidelity and detail.
The TD 1601 with the new TP 160 tonearm is more than just a record player – it is a statement for music lovers who do not want to make compromises.
