Aurender N150 – Reduced network transport for USB-based DAC systems

The Aurender N150 is designed as a consistently minimalist digital transport. Its core function is a clearly defined task: the stable, low-noise delivery of digital audio data via USB to external D/A converters. Within the Aurender series, it marks the entry point into this architecture, without abandoning the fundamental design principles of the larger models.

The N150 is designed for setups that deliberately forgo additional digital interfaces. It features only a dedicated USB audio output – no SPDIF or AES/EBU options. This reduction simplifies signal routing and minimizes internal interference.

Architecture and signaling

The technical design follows a clear principle: minimal internal complexity while ensuring stable data provision. The USB interface is physically and electrically isolated from the rest of the system to reduce interference from CPU and network operation.

A double-isolated Gigabit Ethernet port handles network connectivity, while playback takes place on a cache-based system. The combination of local caching and controlled data transmission aims for a smooth, uninterrupted signal output.

The computing platform uses a power-saving Intel dual-core processor, supported by 8 GB of RAM and a dedicated NVMe system SSD.

Power supply and operational reliability

The power supply is fully linear and therefore designed for a low noise signature. It is complemented by a supercapacitor-based UPS system, which enables a controlled shutdown in the event of a sudden power failure and prevents data loss.

This concept is functional, not spectacular – but crucial for stable continuous operation.

Storage and usage concept

The N150 offers the option of integrating an internal hard drive or SSD. This allows it to be used both as a pure streaming transport and as a local music server.

Those who exclusively use streaming leave the drive bay empty and reduce the system to the essentials.

Display and operation

The 3-inch AMOLED display shows basic playback information such as title and artist. It is functionally designed and deliberately forgoes graphic embellishments in favor of clear readability.

Control is via the Aurender Conductor App, which is designed as a closed system solution for stability and direct usability.
