The Aurender N200 is a digital network transport for DAC-based playback systems where the quality of the digital input is paramount. Within the Aurender product line, it marks the entry into an architecture that focuses on a consistent reduction of output stages in favor of a clearly defined USB signal path.

Unlike its higher-end counterparts, the N200 omits OCXO-clocked SPDIF and AES/EBU outputs. Instead, its design focuses on an isolated USB audio interface as the primary transmission path to the DAC. A coaxial RCA SPDIF output is also available for traditional or secondary system integrations.

The internal platform is based on a power-efficient Intel quad-core system with 8 GB of RAM and cache-optimized playback. Music can be streamed from the network or stored locally via two user-configurable 2.5" drive bays. Alternatively, the device can be operated entirely without internal storage drives.

The power supply is fully linear and supplemented by a supercapacitor-based UPS system. This combination aims to provide a stable power supply and controlled shutdown in the event of a power outage, without interfering with ongoing data processing.

A key design feature is the physical and electrical separation of the USB audio section from the rest of the system. This is intended to minimize the coupling of interference from CPU and network operation into the audio output.

Operation is via the Aurender Conductor software. A 6.9" IPS color display on the front shows album information and cover art in high resolution and serves as a local system display.

System architecture and signaling philosophy

The N200 adopts key design principles from the larger Aurender models, but simplifies them to a USB-centric output architecture. This simplification primarily affects the clock and output sections, while memory, network, and control logic continue to rely on typical Aurender components.

The signal processing is deliberately not designed for multiple outputs, but rather for stable USB data provision with minimal internal complexity.
