Aurender A200 – Compact network player with integrated DAC and analog output

The Aurender A200 is an analog network player that combines streaming, D/A conversion, and preamplification in a single compact device. It is designed for setups that require a streamlined, functionally self-contained solution – without the need for additional transport and DAC components.

As the successor to the A100, the A200 adopts the basic idea of an integrated music server, but expands upon it with a modernized platform, improved power supply and current format support.

DAC integration and signal processing

At the heart of the A200 is an AKM4490 DAC in a single-stereo configuration. It processes high-resolution PCM and DSD data up to 768 kHz / 32-bit and DSD512. A full MQA decoder is integrated, allowing for direct playback of compatible content without external processing.

Clock control is achieved via an FPGA-based system with very low jitter susceptibility. The goal is precise timing of the digital data streams before conversion.

Analog output and system integration

The A200 features unbalanced RCA outputs with variable output voltage. Volume control is lossless at the DAC level, allowing direct connection to a power amplifier.

This configuration allows for a clear, reduced signal chain without an additional preamplifier.

Digital inputs and expandability

In addition to streaming operation, the A200 offers digital inputs for integrating external sources:

• 1 × Coaxial (RCA)
• 1 × Optical (Toslink)

These signals are processed via the internal DAC section, which means the A200 can also be used as a central converter for other digital devices.

Storage architecture and usage

The A200 features two rear-mounted 2.5" drive bays for SSDs or HDDs. This allows the device to be used both as a streaming client and as a local music server.

The storage solution is designed to be flexible: internal drives are optional and can be added as needed.

Power supply and system design

The power supply is based on a fully linear architecture with separate sections for the CPU, DAC, and signal processing. This separation reduces potential interference within the system.

An integrated supercapacitor UPS ensures operational reliability in the event of a power outage and enables a controlled shutdown.

Display and operation

The 6.9-inch IPS display shows cover art and playback information in high resolution. Control is via the Aurender Conductor app, which is designed for a stable, closed system architecture.
