MX180 AC A/V Processor

The McIntosh MX180 AC A/V processor is aimed at home theater enthusiasts who demand uncompromising picture and sound quality. With support for 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz on all HDMI inputs and outputs, the MX180 delivers lifelike images with exceptional detail. It processes all common HDR formats – including HDR, Dynamic HDR, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision – ensuring optimal contrast, color, and brightness on a scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame basis.

For gamers and movie lovers, the MX180 offers features like Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Quick Frame Transport (QFT), and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to ensure smooth, latency-free picture quality without delays. The processor is compatible with all leading 3D surround formats, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, and Auro-3D, and supports ARC/eARC for lossless transmission of high-resolution audio signals from the TV.

The extensive connectivity options allow for the integration of a wide variety of sources: 5 HDMI inputs, 2 HDMI outputs, 4 optical and 3 coaxial digital inputs, a balanced AES/EBU input, USB audio, and analog inputs including a phono input. Up to 16 audio channels can be processed discretely, optionally via balanced outputs for 15.1 or 9.1.6 surround sound systems. With RoomPerfect, the MX180 provides precise room calibration and calibrated speaker levels – including bass adjustment – to ensure optimal sound from any listening position.

Operation is intuitive: sources can be individually named, volume and sound parameters fine-tuned, and two additional audio zones can be supplied via Zone B. Setup is done via a robust menu, web interface, or IP control. The design follows classic McIntosh aesthetics: black glass front, control knobs, illuminated logo, and aluminum end caps.
