Contrary to all predictions, the record has managed to maintain and even consolidate its raison d'etre over the past decades. When it was almost superseded by the CD in the early 1990s, many people missed the properties of this medium, especially the materiality and the subjectively perceived warmer sound. Vinyl was considered impractical and space-consuming compared to the CD, but precisely because of this it had something ahead of the new media: an unmistakable character. We have further developed and improved the very successful G 1260 R turntable of the old R series in order to offer a device for the playback of high-quality analog sound carriers in the new R series, which sets an example with both its sound properties and its unique design . Although the record is an "old" medium, modern record players have to be constructed and developed in a very complex manner in order to get the most out of the record. That is why we put our main focus on keeping all external mechanical and electrical influences as low as possible. So we succeeded in developing a completely quiet and evenly running drive motor for the G 2000 R and creating an absolutely quiet, resonance-free overall system that reduces structure-borne noise, resonances and vibrations to a minimum. The result is an outstanding sound, absolutely transparent, extremely dynamic and sovereign. Our turntable is supplied in different configurations. We highly recommend using our PH G10 phono preamplifier module directly in the chassis. As a standard, we use a modified aluminum die-cast tonearm from Rega, which is equipped with the Ortofon 2M bronze moving magnet system. A modified tonearm with MC system from Clearaudio is available as a high-end variant. The G 2000 R can of course also be delivered without an arm or pickup.
