FRANK ZAPPA – CHEAPER THAN CHEEP LIMITED EDITION BOX SET
In the early 1970s, television was an important tool for introducing musicians to audiences at home. Frank Zappa, fully equipped with his touring light show and stage setup, attempted to record video footage for his own television production to offer to major networks. Just as with the filming of "The Roxy Performances" months earlier, technical problems arose, ultimately leading to the footage being shelved.
Fifty years later, with advances in post-production tools, we present "Cheaper Than Cheep." This new two-hour concert program features classic performances by the Mothers' 1974 lineup, taken directly from newly restored original audio and video tape masters in the archives.
LIMITED EDITION BOX SET
The official Zappa release No. 130 is available in a special, limited Super Deluxe Edition featuring the remastered concert video with brand-new Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround sound, and stereo mix on Blu-ray; the stereo soundtrack on 2 CDs and 3 LPs on 180-gram black vinyl; and an extensive booklet with rare, previously unpublished photos and liner notes by Ruth Underwood and Joe Travers, all housed in a pull-out slipcase. Other formats include a complete 2-CD + Blu-ray set and a standalone soundtrack on 3 LPs on 180-gram black vinyl.
