The Bryston BP-3 is a top-of-the-line, high-quality MM/MC phono preamplifier designed for the precise amplification of even the finest turntable signals. Thanks to its universal design, the unit is suitable for virtually all common MM and MC cartridges and delivers a balanced, dynamic, and exceptionally detailed sound reproduction.

A particular strength of the BP-3 lies in its MC section with high-quality transformers. In MC mode, the precisely manufactured step-up transformers provide an additional gain of either 20 or 26 dB. This allows the phono preamplifier to be optimally adapted to different MC cartridges and their output voltages. The higher gain of 26 dB is available for particularly low-level MC systems.

The Bryston BP-3 offers a gain of 41 dB for MM cartridges. This allows for the effective operation of high-output MC systems and classic moving magnet cartridges. The input gain is precisely tailored to the requirements of high-quality analog playback.

The system employs discrete Class-A amplifier stages, enabling exceptionally low-noise and low-distortion signal processing. The extremely precise RIAA equalization further contributes to the most faithful reproduction of the musical information from the record. With a very low total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 0.005%, the signal processing remains exceptionally clean, even with demanding musical material.

Furthermore, the input capacitance can be configured internally via jumpers. With settings of 0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 pF, the BP-3 can be specifically adapted to different phono cartridges. This facilitates optimal tuning of the phono system and enables flexible integration into high-quality hi-fi systems.

For exceptionally quiet operation, the phono preamplifier is powered by the external Bryston PS3 power supply, which is included. This external power supply contributes to the very low noise level and creates ideal conditions for amplifying the extremely small phono signals.

The BP-3 also impresses with its design, featuring a compact, high-quality housing. Its small footprint allows it to be placed directly next to the turntable or preamplifier. A mute switch on the front panel ensures convenient operation.
