Multiroom amplifier system with ARC® Genesis and flexible audio matrix

The Anthem MDX Series is a multi-room amplifier solution for demanding residential and commercial installations. It combines a stable Class-D power amplifier with precise signal processing, zone-based room correction, and a flexibly configurable audio matrix. The design aims for consistent, controlled sound quality across multiple listening zones.

Performance architecture and operating modes

The power amplifier platform delivers 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 120 watts into 4 ohms. For applications with increased power requirements, channels can be bridged, providing up to 200 watts into 8 ohms.

These power reserves enable the operation of a wide variety of loudspeaker types – from in-wall installations to more powerful floorstanding speakers. The integrated Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM™) technology continuously monitors load conditions and protects the system during critical operating situations.

Analog and digital audio matrix

The central element of the MDX Series is a combined analog and digital audio matrix. It allows all inputs to be freely assigned to any output zones.

Analog RCA inputs as well as digital interfaces (coaxial and optical) are supported. This structure allows for flexible distribution of different audio sources within a multiroom system, without fixed signal assignments.

ARC® Genesis per zone

A key feature of the MDX Series is the integration of Anthem Room Correction (ARC®) Genesis for each individual zone.

The system analyzes the acoustic properties of each room and adjusts the sound reproduction accordingly. Frequency responses are corrected, room influences are reduced, and loudspeakers are optimized regardless of their position. This results in consistent sound quality in a wide variety of rooms.

Extended zone control

Each zone can be individually configured. This includes separate input assignments, individual volume control, and specific playback settings.

Additionally, zones can be bridged to meet higher performance requirements. The flexible structure supports both simple multi-room applications and complex installations with diverse needs.

Subwoofer integration and bass management

The MDX Series enables zone-independent integration of subwoofers. Separate outputs and configurable parameters such as crossover frequency, level, phase, and polarity are available for each zone.

In combination with ARC® Genesis, each subwoofer is tuned to the specific room, ensuring controlled and even bass reproduction.

Signal processing and format support

The platform supports high-resolution audio signals up to 24-bit/192 kHz (PCM). Digital signal processing is handled by an efficient Class-D architecture designed for stable performance and low power consumption.

This design meets current energy efficiency requirements while simultaneously enabling a constant power output.

Scalability and system expansion

For larger installations, multiple MDX units can be interconnected. Digital signals can be routed between devices, while analog loop-through options allow for flexible expansion.

This scalability allows for adaptation to projects of varying sizes – from single-family homes to extensive commercial installations.

Integration and control

The MDX Series is designed for integration into modern control systems. The amplifier can be integrated into common automation solutions via IP and RS-232 interfaces.

A web-based user interface enables the setup and management of the system. Additionally, drivers for established control platforms are available, simplifying integration into existing installations.

System integration and DSP presets

For selected loudspeaker models, tailored DSP presets are available. These enable optimized configuration without time-consuming manual adjustments and support consistent system tuning within compatible setups.
