TECHNICS SL-1200 GR2
The new SL-1200GR2/SL-1210GR2 from Technics sets new standards. The quality of the motor control signal achieves an unprecedented level of precision, delivering a musical experience that will make audiophiles' hearts beat faster.
In the past, the motor control signal was generated using an analog RF oscillator. However, in 2016, the SL-1200GAE ushered in a new era for turntables, accompanied by improved motor control technology. This technology, based on digital PWM signal generation, resulted in a dramatic improvement in rotational accuracy and a reduction in motor vibrations. Even so, there was still room for further optimization.
The innovation of the 'GR2' generation lies in the use of Delta-Sigma(λS) modulation for motor control, a technology already successfully employed in the JENO engine of Technics' fully digital amplifiers. The result – the Delta-Sigma(λS) Drive – is a perfect sine wave that suppresses motor vibrations and improves tracking precision. This technology represents a significant breakthrough in suppressing motor resonances, which can interfere with the natural resonances of tonearms and cartridges.
The rotary control loop is based on a magnetic-inductive frequency generator and contributes to the exceptional stability of the 'GR2' rotation. The new multi-stage switching power supply of the SL-1200GR2/SL-1210GR2 uses noise reduction technology found in Technics' reference turntable, the SL-1000R. The result is an exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratio, elevating playback quality to a new level.
The proven mechanical design of its predecessor has been retained, including the torsionally rigid aluminum chassis, the platter, and the S-shaped tonearm. Subtle visual improvements have been made to give the 'GR2' an even more premium feel.
The environmentally friendly packaging of the SL-1200GR2/SL-1210GR2 reduces the use of plastic while ensuring efficient protection during transport. This is a step towards sustainability that Technics intends to extend to other product lines in the future.
Experience revolutionary sound precision and an unparalleled musical experience with the Technics SL-1200GR2/SL-1210GR2 – a tribute to the past and at the same time a leap into the future of turntable design.
