Aurender N20 – Digital network transport with OCXO clocking and multi-output architecture
The Aurender N20 is a digital network transport for DAC-based high-end systems where the quality of data delivery is crucial. Its focus is not on signal processing, but rather on time-stable, low-noise, and clock-accurate output of digital audio data via multiple parallel interfaces.
Compared to pure streaming solutions, the N20 relies on a consistently hardware-based architecture with OCXO clocking for S/PDIF and AES/EBU outputs, as well as isolated USB audio. This makes it particularly suitable for systems where the DAC is intentionally used as the central, sound-defining component.
The hybrid power supply combines linear power supply sections with an uninterruptible power supply unit based on supercapacitors. The aim is a stable supply for the digital and control logic without affecting the audio output.
Two user-configurable 2.5" drive bays are available for the local music library. Alternatively, the N20 can be used entirely in streaming mode without internal storage.
An 8.8" IPS display on the front shows metadata and album art in high resolution and serves as direct visual feedback of the ongoing playback process.
Technical classification (for DAC systems)
The Aurender N20 is neither a DAC nor an all-in-one source, but a pure digital transport. Its purpose is to provide the most stable, low-jitter, and format-wide audio data possible for external digital-to-analog converters.
It is particularly relevant for systems with high-quality DACs connected via AES/EBU or S/PDIF, as well as for USB-based reference converters.
